The Lord Meets His Lady by Gina Conkle

This is a gorgeous historical romance, full of lush prose and evocative imagery, not to mention an extremely unusual pair of protagonists.

Lord Marcus Bowles is the epitome of the scoundrel second son, banished to his forebears' cottage in Northumberland until gossip about his latest scandalous episode can die down. Scandal doesn't stay far from him, though, and he soon finds himself entangled and entranced with Genevieve Turner, a woman with an even messier past than his own.

I absolutely love Gina Conkle's writing style. She weaves a spell with words, making it easy to imagine the people and situations in her stories. I can't possibly do justice to it with a simple review, so you'll have to read the following extract and sample the book for yourself!

The story is full of twists and turns, and I genuinely found myself wondering how things could possibly come out all right. Ms. Conkle is a master storyteller and I look forward to reading more of her work! Five very well-deserved stars.
